London Brick benefits as HMIP backs down on emission limits

The second and final drafts of six guidance notes which will determine what standards the minerals industries must meet under integrated pollution control (IPC) have been circulated by HM Inspectorate of Pollution (HMIP).1 Cement and fibre producers are pressing for more time to upgrade their existing plants, while lime manufacturers want to operate to the same emission standards as the cement industry. But the biggest issues have been raised by the softening of HMIP's stance to emissions by the Fletton brick industry.
