Councils shun refuse sacks made from recycled plastic

More than one-third of local authorities supplying refuse sacks to householders are shunning those made from recycled plastic, and only a handful specify the use of post-consumer waste plastic, according to a leading producer. The use of virgin plastic sacks is diminishing - but councils will have to review their purchasing practices if they are to help create new markets for packaging waste which will be needed to meet EC recycling targets.
