Noise and odour complaints rise to record levels

Local authorities are struggling unsuccessfully to keep abreast of public expectations about noise and odour pollution, according to the latest annual report from the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH).1 The report also shows a further increase in the area of contaminated land known to councils, and a shortfall in funding for their industrial air pollution control function.
