Global warming threat to HFCs in car air conditioning

Car air conditioning systems using HFC-134a have a global warming potential (GWP) 22-92% greater than those based on hydrocarbons, according to a life-cycle study commissioned by Calor Gas.1 The study will support Calor's attempt to enter a rapidly growing market in Europe, challenging HFC-134a producers such as ICI.
