Industry attacks key proposals in air quality strategy

The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and Chemical Industries Association (CIA) have mounted a concerted attack on the objectives and timescales proposed in the Government's air quality strategy. In contrast, the National Society for Clean Air (NSCA) has called for more stringent standards, and warned that further action is needed to curb traffic emissions. The NSCA and local authorities want greater clarity over the powers and resources which will be available to implement the strategy.
