Agency drafts first standard to control oestrogenic discharges

The Environment Agency is likely to introduce an environmental quality standard (EQS) shortly for nonyl phenol - an oestrogenic chemical produced by the breakdown of alkyl phenol ethoxylates (APEs). The EQS of 1µg/l under consideration will put increased pressure on companies manufacturing and using APEs.
