Biggest LAAPC fine yet for animal renderer

A Cheshire animal rendering business which has thwarted efforts to bring its emissions within authorised limits for 18 months was punished in December with fines totalling £216,000 - by far the biggest penalty imposed to date under the local authority air pollution control system introduced by the Environmental Protection Act 1990. True to form, the firm has appealed against both the conviction and fine.
