EC rules force nitrate curbs on eight Anglian sewage works

Parts of three river catchments in eastern England have been designated as "sensitive areas" under the 1991 EC Directive on urban wastewater treatment. Anglian Water will have to reduce nitrate discharges from eight sewage works in order to protect drinking water sources.
