DoE's proposals for implementing incineration Directive

Proposals for transposing the 1994 EC Directive on hazardous waste incineration into British law were issued for consultation by the Department of the Environment (DoE) on 31 January.1 The EC rules may require a small number of processes to be brought under integrated pollution control (IPC), but their full implications will not be clear until agreement has been reached at EC level on follow-up proposals on dioxin emission limits and standards for discharges from incinerator scrubbers.
