DoE rediscovers business benefits of environmental policy

A discussion document on the business costs and benefits of environmental policy was issued quietly in February by the Department of the Environment (DoE). The paper may be of considerable longer-term significance for environmental policy in acknowledging implicitly that the Government's approach to assessing the costs of new legislation overlooks potential benefits both to regulated firms and environmental technology businesses.
