Akzo becomes second BS7750 firm to be fined for pollution

Chemical manufacturer Akzo Nobel has been fined a total of £4,000 in two prosecutions for an illegal discharge of paint waste from its Darwen works in Lancashire. The case was the second within two months in which a site certified to the environmental management standard BS7750 was convicted of a pollution offence.
