"Disregard" of safety warnings lands BNFL with £20,000 fine

British Nuclear Fuels (BNFL) has been fined £20,000 for a serious safety breach at the Sellafield nuclear reprocessing works in Cumbria. BNFL failed to act on warnings stretching over six years that a bridge carrying radioactive effluent over a public railway was in danger of collapse.
