Agency's climb-down over oestrogen discharges

The Environment Agency has backed down in its attempts to reduce oestrogenic discharges from Akcros Chemicals' works in Manchester to "harmless" levels. Key monitoring data and correspondence with the company have not been entered on the public register - reinforcing concerns over the application of integrated pollution control (IPC) in the Agency's North West region.
