Sony Manufacturing UK: Getting the best out of ISO14001

Electronics giant Sony has set itself some demanding targets to reduce the environmental burdens of its manufacturing processes and products. The group's manufacturing sites are under orders to secure certification to the environmental management standard ISO14001 by next March - and its main sites in the UK, at Bridgend and Pencoed in south Wales, did so with more than a year to spare. The Bridgend plant has already made some impressive achievements - but now faces the challenge of motivating employees to contribute more fully to its improvement programme.
