British Waterways fined £18,000 for secret abstraction deal

British Waterways was fined £18,000 in August after details of an illegal deal it had made with a water abstractor emerged in court. Market gardening firm Trent Valley Growers was also fined after meter readings revealed that it had taken more water than permitted by its abstraction licences.
