PVC industry accepts need for phthalate limits for toys

The European PVC industry has responded to the crisis of confidence in the safety of soft PVC toys by calling for the establishment of EC limits on the migration of phthalate plasticisers from the products. The European Commission decided in October to establish a committee to draw up a common test method for measuring migration levels which replicates the chewing of such toys by young children, and to set migration limits.
