Biocides Directive "unworkable", claims chemical industry

The chemical industry has warned that the draft EC Directive on biocides, due to become law in the next few weeks, is unworkable in its present form because of the costs manufacturers will face in meeting its data requirements. The industry also claims that the legislation will lead to a large reduction in the number of biocides on the market, with potentially serious consequences for hygiene and pest control.
