Major companies sign up for ISO14001 and EMAS

The international environmental management standard ISO14001 has now been fully accepted by the UK's electricity generators, with PowerGen and Scottish Power winning their first certificates. The EC eco-management and audit scheme (EMAS) is still making little headway - but will win a boost when BP Chemicals and Blue Circle Cement achieve registration next year.
