Industry warms to textiles eco-label

The European textiles industry has thrown its weight behind proposals for a broad EC eco-label covering a wide range of textile products. But in a controversial move, the criteria encourage manufacturers to seek general improvements in process efficiency rather than meet fixed limits for emissions and resource consumption. Meanwhile, Member States have adopted EC eco-label criteria for soil improvers - against the wishes of the UK.
