ICI Runcorn back in the dock with £80,000 IPC fine

ICI Chemicals & Polymers has been fined £80,000 for a spillage of chlorinated solvent at its troubled Runcorn works in Cheshire. The fine is the second largest ever imposed for an integrated pollution control (IPC) offence - eclipsed only by a £300,000 penalty for an earlier spill on the Runcorn site.
