Gower Chemicals' £100,000 fine for fatal CFC spill

Swansea-based chemical supplier Gower Chemicals was fined £100,000 in June on two charges of breaching its trade effluent agreement with Welsh Water. The case followed a discharge of CFCs into the sewer which went unreported for over two months and was only discovered when two sewer maintenance workers were suffocated.
