Agency to plug gaps on waste data and advise councils on strategy

Proposals aimed at filling the gaps in waste management information - many of which have widened since local councils lost their waste regulation function - have been issued for consultation by the Environment Agency. 1 But it will not be until 2000, four years after the Agency's birth, that an ambitious set of regional waste management assessments will begin to take shape and enable a new planning framework to unfold.
