£1m clean-up for Sussex oil spill

Cleaning up a 680,000 litre fuel oil spill at Shoreham harbour in West Sussex may cost £1 million, the Environment Agency fears. The spill from tanks belonging to storage company Jentex has been blamed on vandals but is currently under investigation by the Agency. About a third of the oil was retained in a bund, but the remainder escaped from a drain valve which appears not to have been locked.
