Agency moves to resuscitate IPC emissions register

In a bid to revive its moribund Chemical Release Inventory (CRI), the Environment Agency has ordered all operators of processes under integrated pollution control (IPC) to report their 1998 emissions against a standard list of over 200 substances. Similar reporting may be required from next year for all installations under the integrated pollution prevention and control (IPPC) Directive - long before most IPPC permits are issued.
