MPs hear evidence on environmental agenda for products

Product manufacturers are failing to abide by the voluntary green claims code launched last year, the House of Commons Environment Committee was told in January. In two wide-ranging evidence sessions, the Committee also heard that single issue eco-labels driven by retailers' needs are superior in reducing the environmental impact of products to voluntary, generic labels such as the EC's eco-labelling scheme, as well as familiar arguments between the proponents of producer responsibility and supporters of shared responsibility.
