MPs call for road traffic targets, more cash for transport

The Government's integrated transport policies are being undermined by "quite inadequate" funding and the absence of national targets for road traffic, according to the House of Commons Environment Committee. 1 The MPs have also pressed for tougher planning controls on out-of-town developments, powers to introduce customer parking charges, and major changes to the bus and rail industries - backed by swift legislative action.
