Controversy over eco-label for light bulbs

An attempt to bring light bulbs within the first group of products to qualify for eco-labels under a new EC scheme has been dealt a potentially serious setback. The main bulb producers told the European Commission that they will not participate in the scheme after a report sponsored by the UK Government recommended that only the most energy efficient compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs) should receive eco-labels.
