European Court rules on GMO Directive

In its first judgment concerning EC legislation on the release of genetically modified organisms, the European Court of Justice has strengthened its own role and that of the European Commission in the procedures at the expense of national bodies. The Court has also ruled that the legislation does not offend against the precautionary principle.
