Another mistake over GM technology
Two years ago, biotechnology business Monsanto received a bloody nose over its attempts to introduce genetically modified crops and foods into Europe. Across much of the continent the perception was that the company was seeking to foist an unsettling new technology on an unreceptive and unprepared public. Monsanto and other biotechnology businesses have paid dearly for their errors - and the price is rising as a major market remains largely closed to their products and research and development costs accumulate.
