The nuclear industry must by now be inured to having its promises of electricity "too cheap to meter" thrown back in its face. But a new variant on that question now looms for Britain's nuclear operators: can they keep their stations in business long enough in an increasingly competitive electricity market to be making a significant contribution to the nation's CO2 targets at the end of the decade?
