Business group raises stakes on transport policy

The Government has been put under renewed pressure to use the tax system to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide from vehicles by the second report of its Advisory Committee on Business and the Environment (ACBE).1 Its recommendations have once again drawn a non-committal response - but Ministers have agreed to two initiatives to promote export opportunities in environmental technology and encourage smaller firms to set up environmental management systems.
