DoE worries on impact of EC rules for small boilers

Many thousands of small boilers could be added to the existing UK system of air pollution control under a forthcoming EC proposal to curb emissions from small combustion plant, according to a report prepared for the Department of the Environment (DoE).1 And if the EC rules supported the use of low-sulphur fuel rather than flue gas treatment, they would spell yet more trouble for the Government's tattered plans to sell off British Coal.
