Electricity output from Britain's nuclear power stations plummeted by 10% last year. The reduction, the second in succession, is posing deeper questions about key assumptions in the Government's climate change strategy - and fresh doubts are also emerging about the projected lifetimes of several nuclear plants because of fuel reprocessing and discharge issues at Sellafield.
