Government accepts proposals for SO2 pollution warnings

Individuals with respiratory ailments are likely to suffer adverse health effects when exposed to sulphur dioxide at levels which occur in parts of the UK, an official advisory group has concluded.1 The Government's response promises to revise the existing system of air quality warnings, but fails to address the group's recommendations for research on the impacts of SO2 and other pollutants on human health.
