The Environment Agency served an enforcement notice on Blue Circle Cement at its Westbury works on 15 March, following numerous failures to comply with conditions in its integrated pollution control authorisation. These were: failure to submit six months of monitoring data; a dozen breaches of authorised emissions limits for SO2 and NOX; and failure to notify the Agency of the breaches. The notice includes a requirement on the company to implement proper controls to minimise releases.
