Wessex fined £2,000 for sewage pollution

Sewage pollution in the river Avon at Malmesbury, Wiltshire, in October last year led to the prosecution of Wessex Water on 1 May. The company pleaded guilty to causing polluting matter to enter controlled waters, contrary to sections 85(1) and (6) of the Water Resources Act 1991, before Chippenham magistrates.
