Bill to reform Scotland's water industry introduced

A bill to establish a single water authority in Scotland was published by the Scottish Executive at the end of September.1 The legislation will also establish a drinking water quality regulator on a statutory footing and with seemingly tougher powers than the regulator south of the border. The new authority will also have a sustainable development duty.
