DoE's strategy on VOCs shows need for further controls

Existing legal controls on industrial and vehicle emissions may only just reduce the UK's emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) below a target required by an international treaty, according to a consultation document issued by the Department of the Environment (DoE) on 13 November.1 But firm proposals for additional measures which would guarantee compliance with the target have not been made in the paper.
