Ban recommended on two more brominated flame retardants

EU technical experts have recommended that precautionary restrictions on the marketing and use of octa- and deca-brominated diphenyl ethers (BDEs) are needed to protect the environment. They have recommended action because evidence suggests that the products are bioaccumulating in wildlife. Uncertainty also remains over their potential to degrade to form persistent and bioaccumulative breakdown products.
