Nonyl phenol 'ubiquitous in food', researchers find

The oestrogenic chemical nonyl phenol is detectable in all kinds of foods, German researchers have reported. They suggest that pesticides, packaging and cleaning products are possible sources. Although the levels appear to be within safe limits, the potential for endocrine-disrupting effects may be a focus for public concern.
