£34,000 bill for cyanide spill

A small Staffordshire electroplating firm has been ordered to pay £34,000 in fines and costs after it spilt 30 kilograms of cyanide into a canal. The discharge devastated aquatic life, killing 20,000 large fish and tens of thousands of small fry.
