Answers awaited over national debate on GM crops

Doubts about the Government's commitment to hold a novel public debate on genetically modified crops have been lifted by Environment Secretary Margaret Beckett. But crucial questions about the timing of the debate and whether it will encompass results from the current trials of GM crops will not be answered for a few weeks.
