China clay firm fined for silt pollution

St Austell-based china clay extractor Goonvean was fined £1,000 and ordered to pay costs of £750 on 1 July after admitting turning a Cornish stream milky white with silt. The incident was reported to the Environment Agency by a member of the public in December last year.
