Arctic report sounds new warning on persistent chemicals

New controls on persistent organic pollutants may be needed to halt growing contamination of the Arctic, a report from the international Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme has concluded.1 Compounds likely to top the list for action include PBDE flame retardants and polychlorinated naphthalene and endosulfan pesticides.
