Northern Ireland fudges its way through sewage treatment crisis

A six-month moratorium on planning decisions imposed in more than fifty areas of Northern Ireland because of the inability of sewage treatment works to cope with loads from new development was lifted in October. But no extra funds have been provided for upgrading sewage works - leaving the UK highly exposed to legal proceedings and fines for breaches of EU legislation.
