Law Lords urge legal reforms for environmental cases

Calls by two leading members of the judiciary for an extension of public access to the courts in environmental cases featured prominently in a debate on the implementation of EC environmental legislation in the House of Lords on 21 January. There was little response from the Government, but the debate highlighted the mounting pressure for legal reforms to facilitate the proper application of environmental laws in both the UK and EC.
