OECD delays action on PFOS

A risk assessment of perfluorooctane sulphonate (PFOS) completed by the OECD has found the chemical to be persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic to mammals. The OECD has decided not to act on a US request for an international ban, but has asked governments to investigate whether PFOS is still being manufactured.
