Strathclyde decides against incineration for sludge disposal

Strathclyde Regional Council will not be joining the ranks of sewerage undertakers who have responded to the impending ban on sewage sludge dumping at sea by opting for incineration. Instead, it intends to process 95,000 tonnes of dry sludge generated annually in and around Glasgow and reuse it in land treatment and reclamation projects.
