Toxic timebomb: Tackling the UK’s PFAS problem
27th February 2023 @ 15:30
Toxic PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) – a family of around 4,700 manmade ‘forever chemicals’ – are in the blood of almost everyone in the world. It’s a problem whose significance is understood in the US, where firms have paid out billions of dollars for PFAS liabilities.
But in the UK, regulation has been slow to catch up, despite evidence that the chemicals – linked to six major health issues – are now “ubiquitous” in the environment, according to the Environment Agency.
Join Rob Bilott , Peter van der Zandt , Julie Schneider , Crispin Halsall and Jamie Carpenter LIVE as they examine this emerging chemical threat, and its implications.
